Track and Field Sets 14 Personal-Bests Over The Weekend

Utah State competed in meets at Boise State and Idaho State

Katie ThatcherUtah State's men's and women's track and field teams set 14 personal-bests and had 29 top-three finishes over the weekend as the Aggies competed in meets at both Boise State and Idaho State on Saturday (May 1).

At the Boise State Invitational, Utah State's women's team won seven events and recorded 17 top-three finishes led by freshman Carrie Bitton who won both the long jump (17-08.75) and 100-meter hurdles (15.05), and freshman Becky Tueller who won the 100-meters (12.13) and 200-meters (24.82). Other Aggie women who won events on the day included Alana Geisler in the pole vault (11-07.75); Kelli Burton in the shot put (49-05.75); Amy Egan in the 800-meters (2:12.00); and Katie Thatcher in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.35).

On the men's side, Utah State notched 11 top-three finishes at the Boise State Invitational and seven personal-bests led by senior Josh Sides who finished third in both the shot put (55-01.50) and hammer (191-11), and fourth in the discus (151-02). Those who set new PRs on the men's side included Reece Hulbert in the high jump (6-06.75); Matt Toone in the pole vault (14-09); Blake Hadfield in the long jump (23-00.75); Jared Ocana in the triple jump (43-07.75); James Logan in the 110-meter hurdles (15.19); Scott Faldmo in the 800-meters (1:57.17); and Brett Udy in the 800-meters (1:57.80).

Aggie women who set new PRs on the day included Chalise Withers in the high jump (5-04.50); Bitton in the long jump (17-08.75) and 100-meter hurdles (15.05); Burton in the discus (170-01); Tueller in the 100-meters (12.13);Cachet Webb in the 100-meters (12.30); and Thatcher in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.35).

Utah State will return to action Thursday, May 6, as it hosts the Wilson Motor Qualifier at the Ralph Maughan Track Stadium with field events beginning at 1 p.m. and track events starting at 3:30 p.m.
