USU Campus and Community to Connect Across Cultures at International Connections Night

By Shelly Ortiz |

Members of International Friends Program, a local nonprofit, engage with students at the USU International Connections Night event in January 2026.

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University’s Heritage & Culture team will present International Connections Night from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom. The event welcomes students, faculty, staff, and community members to explore cultures from around the world, broaden their perspectives, and strengthen community connections.

International Connections Night is a longstanding USU tradition dating back to at least 1981, when it was known as the International Banquet. The event celebrates the global traditions that strengthen the Cache Valley community and foster cross-cultural connections.

The evening begins with opportunities to connect with student organizations, campus departments and community groups through interactive cultural tables featuring hands-on activities from 6-7 p.m. Cultural performances start at 7 p.m. along with an interactive educational experience offering practical insights for navigating cultural differences and fostering understanding across perspectives. The celebration concludes with a world music dance party from 8:30-10 p.m.

While the International Banquet was traditionally in the spring, this year’s International Connections Night will take place in November in recognition of International Education Week. Utah State University joins institutions across the country in celebrating the benefits of international education and exchange programs worldwide by aligning the event with this observance.

USU’s Heritage & Culture fosters community-building through the celebration of heritage and shared experiences. Visit https://www.usu.edu/involvement/heritage-culture/ to learn more.
