USU Community Invited to Participate in Expression Survey
As part of H.B. 261: Equal Opportunity Initiatives, which was passed by the Utah Legislature in 2024, Utah’s public higher education institutions are conducting a survey to better understand student, faculty and staff experiences with the campus environment, including perceptions of campus expression, freedom of speech and academic freedom.
The Utah System of Higher Education and Utah State University have partnered with Hanover Research to administer the survey, which will be sent via email on March 3. The email will come from surveys@qemailserver.com with the subject line “Please share your thoughts with Utah State University.” As a token of appreciation, the first 75 students who complete the survey will receive a $10 gift card to a store of their choice. Students who aren't among the first 75 will still have a chance to win one of five $50 gift cards through a raffle at the end of the survey.
This study will play a crucial role in informing decisions that enhance the university experience for the entire USU community. It is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to share their perspectives and experiences on campuses.
Hanover Research, as an objective third party, will maintain the confidentiality of all respondents. They will only report the results in aggregate to university leadership, ensuring that individual responses remain anonymous. Once all the survey data is gathered and analyzed throughout the spring semester, it will be provided to state lawmakers.
Employees and students who do not receive the survey by March 7 should check their spam or junk folders. If the email invitation cannot be found, they can contact Jessica Ottwein at jottwein@hanoverresearch.com.
