USU Distributes 2024 Annual Security Report
USU distributes an annual security and fire safety report to all employees and students by Oct. 1 each year in compliance with state and federal law.
USU’s annual security report includes campus crime and fire statistics for all of Utah State’s campuses and educational centers for the previous three years, information about how to report crimes and seek help, and details about how USU is preventing sexual violence and improving overall campus safety.
This year’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is available at usu.edu/dps/about/clery.
In an email to the campus community this week, USU Police Chief Jason Brei wrote: “The security of USU’s campuses is our first priority in the Department of Public Safety. It is our goal to ensure a safe learning, working, and living environment for students and employees on all of our 30 campuses and centers in Utah, and we work with local law enforcement partners across the state to achieve this goal.”
The 2024 report details how the USU Department of Public Safety and campus partners have worked to create a safer campus, including the following actions:
- Partnered with CAPSA to host the third annual Northern Utah Conference to End Violence.
- Created a Threat Assessment Management Team to assess and address potential threats to campus safety.
- Conducted 83 USU Police outreach events to promote campus safety.
Utah State is committed to transparency about crime on its campuses and working to keep our communities safe. This report is published each year in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and Utah Code 53-B-28-401 (Campus Safety Plans and Training).
