USU Eastern Athletic Camps Welcome More Than 1,600 Participants to Campus

USU Eastern welcomed more than 1,600 athletes to campus this summer through a series of team and individual athletic camps, letting participants improve their skills while experiencing life as an Eagle.

Throughout the summer, the university hosted high school team camps in women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s volleyball, football and cross country, along with individual camps in cheer, women’s basketball, baseball and volleyball. In total, approximately 1,400 athletes representing 50 different teams participated in team camps, while more than 200 additional athletes attended individual skills camps.

Beyond competition and instruction, the camps gave visiting athletes an opportunity to experience the USU Eastern campus, interact with coaching staff and explore the Price community.

“The impact summer camps have on our athletic department is vast,” said Morgan Warburton-Nelson, USU Eastern athletic camps director and assistant women’s basketball coach. “Not only do they help support our teams on and off the floor, but they allow for us to have a front row seat to recruiting future student-athletes. The participants are given an inside look on what it means to be a USU Eastern Eagle through our coaching staff, campus and community.”

Warburton-Nelson said the success of the camps extends well beyond athletics and reflects the collaborative effort of the entire campus.

“What stands out the most is the hospitality and culture,” she said. “Every campus department involved goes above and beyond to ensure the experience is one to remember. The goal is for each participant to take a little bit of Eastern with them and potentially return to our campus as future students and/or athletes.”

Each camp let athletes develop their skills, compete against quality competition and build relationships with USU Eastern coaches and current student-athletes. At the same time, the events brought hundreds of visitors to campus, highlighting the college’s facilities and strengthening connections with schools and communities throughout the region.

By combining athletic development with a welcoming campus experience, USU Eastern’s summer camps continue to serve as an important part of the college’s recruiting efforts while creating lasting memories for the next generation of Eagles.
