USU Eastern Hires New Director of Students
Kevin Hurst
Utah State University Eastern hired Kevin Hurst as the director of students. Previous to his new role, Hurst worked as the chief student affairs officer at Zane State College in Zanesville, Ohio. He has ten years of higher education experience, ranging from being an intern to leading teams as a director.
“I’ve learned the great value education brings in developing quality skills to improve your quality of life,” said Hurst. “Many of the lessons I’ve learned that have influenced my life came during my time as a college student and professional working experience in higher education.”
At Zane State College, Hurst provided direction and leadership for financial aid, accessibility services, counseling services, orientation, advising, TRIO and the front desk of student services. He served as the Title IX deputy coordinator handling student conduct violations. He was also a member of the president’s cabinet and represented the college at state meetings.
In his new position at USU Eastern, Hurst plans to make sure the campus’ efforts are student-centered.
“I want every student who attends USU Eastern to have a great experience and love the time they spend on campus,” said Hurst.
Hurst received his bachelor’s from the University of Utah in 2008 and his master’s in college student personnel administration from the University of Central Missouri in 2012.
During the 2012-2013 school year, Hurst was a program coordinator working as a recruiter and admissions officer at USU Eastern.
“USU Eastern and Price hold a warm place in my heart,” said Hurst. “I love the great people working at this campus and the friendly community. Price is a great college town and USU Eastern has potential to grow and advance.”
During that time, Hurst helped increase new student applications for the 2013-2014 school year by 300%.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kevin back to USU Eastern," said Greg Dart, associate vice president at USU Eastern. "His commitment to students and love for this institution will help him make an immediate positive impact."
Hurst begins his new position at USU Eastern Oct. 1.
