PRICE, Utah — Evey Gannaway Dalton, assistant professor at USU Eastern, has been named as the Department Teacher of the Year in the USU College of Science’s Department of Geosciences.

“Dr. Gannaway Dalton is an absolute rock star,” said Doug Miller, chief campus administrator at USU Eastern. “While this recognition is specific to her skill as an educator, her expertise in our region is valued beyond the classroom. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as a member of the faculty at USU Eastern.”

Gannaway Dalton holds a doctorate in geological sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso. During her graduate studies, she was a graduate assistant teacher and researcher. She began her post graduate teaching at New Mexico State University as a visiting assistant professor in 2019, before joining the USU Eastern faculty in August 2020.

She teaches courses in introductory geoscience, natural disasters and the fossil record, as well as advanced courses in sedimentology/stratigraphy and basin analysis.

The Teacher of the Year award is given each year to recognize and promote excellence in teaching.
