USU to Host Annual Health and Wellness Expo 2021 Virtually

Utah State University’s Health and Wellness Expo has brought students, faculty and staff together for more than 10 years to connect the USU community to resources and services that prioritize well-being.

This year, the expo will look different than in years past. The five-day virtual event will be available to all members of the USU community across the state Jan. 25-29. Each day will feature speakers, resources, and fitness classes you can do at-home from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Live presentations and classes are available via Zoom and will also be recorded for future viewing.

The Expo is hosted each year by USU’s Employee Wellness program, Student Health and Wellness Center, and Campus Recreation departments.

Alyssa Jensen, USU’s Employee Wellness Manager, said, “The past year has been full of additional challenges in our lives, often leaving us with increased levels of anxiety, and stress. I think 2020 also reiterated how important it is to take care of our health and wellness, especially when it comes to our physical and mental well-being. This Expo is a great opportunity for employees and students to learn about important health topics as well as the resources and services available to them.”

Each of the five days will feature two speakers from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 12:30–1:30 p.m. with an at-home fitness class from noon–1 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 25:

  • Be Well Employee Wellness
  • HIIT (high-intensity interval training)
  • Make Health Your Priority: Learn how to prevent Type 2 Diabetes

Tuesday, Jan. 26:

  • Physical and Emotional Resiliency
  • Bootcamp (cardio and strength training)
  • USU Employee Assistance Program: Support for your Emotional Well-being

Wednesday, Jan. 27:

  • Work-Life Balance in a Virtual World
  • Express Core (core strengthening)
  • Mental Health

Thursday, January 28:

  • Nutrition
  • Yoga
  • Student Health and Campus Recreation Services and Resources

Friday, January 29:

  • Cultivating Spiritual Wellness on Campus
  • HIIT (high-intensity interval training)
  • Eating Healthy on a Budget

“The speakers and presentations focus around the eight dimensions of Wellness and aim to provide education and tips we can start using now to work toward a healthier lifestyle,” said Jensen. “My hope is that attendees will learn something that they didn’t know before and then apply it to their lives.”

There is no cost to attend the expo, but those who wish to attend must register online.
