USU's Horizons Challenge to Award $4,000 Prize for Innovative Solutions on April 11

LOGAN, Utah — The Office of Research is hosting the 2025 Horizons Challenge on April 11 with a $4,000 grand prize to the winning team. Four runner-up teams will also receive $1,500 each.
Since October, undergraduate teams have been tasked with finding innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. Their work culminates with the competition to present each team’s proposed solutions to challenges in Space, Energy, AI, Education, Climate Change, Housing, Health Care, Cybersecurity and Mental Health.
“We’re excited for the presentations and to learn how Horizons encouraged undergraduate students to explore their research interests and contribute to solving real-world problems,” said Office of Research Program Leader Will Gold. “Hopefully everyone who attends will see how this competition is a unique opportunity for students to work together, learn new skills and make a difference.”
The presentations and awards will take place from 1:30-5 p.m. April 11 in the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium. The event is open to the public.
