SENIOR NIGHT

SENIOR NIGHT ON TAP — In its home finale of the 2010 gymnastics season, Utah State (1-15, 0-4 WAC) hosts Sacramento State (6-11, 1-3 WAC) Friday, March 19. Friday is "Senior Night" as USU will be honoring its lone senior, Heather Heinrich in a post-meet ceremony. The Western Athletic Conference duel between the Aggies and Hornets is slated for a 7 p.m. (MT) start in USU's final home meet of the season at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum (10,270).

SOLO SENIOR — With only one senior on this year's roster in Heather Heinrich, this marks USU's second-straight season with a lone senior, after former gymnast and current graduate assistant coach Nicki Felley in 2009. The 2010 and 2009 rosters have the fewest seniors since 2004's roster did not have any seniors, having four seniors on the roster in 2008, five in 2007, three in 2006 and two in 2005.

THE GANG'S ALL HERE — Last Friday [March 12, 2010] was the first time in the last eight meets dating back to Jan. 22 that Utah State had a complete line up in all four events. The Aggies have been severely bitten by the injury bug and weren't able to put six gymnasts up in all four events since USU's duel at Southern Utah Jan. 22, seven meets and nearly two months ago.

LAST STAND AT HOME — Friday's duel with Sacramento State is Utah State's final home meet of the season and final regular-season action before next week's WAC Championships. This is USU's third-straight season with a home meet to end regular-season competition, last being on the road for its final regular-season meet in 2007.

IN THE RANKINGS — Sacramento State is No. 42 in the Troester Women's Gymnastics rankings for the week of March 15 with a 193.200 RQS, while Utah State is No. 53 with an RQS of 191.040. The Hornets are also ranked eighth in the West Region while the Aggies are eighth in the North Central Region.

HOMETOWN CONNECTIONS — Utah State senior Heather Heinrich and Sacramento State junior Amanda Bieber are both Littleton, Colo., natives, as Heinrich went to Dakota Ridge HS and competed for Colorado Gymnastics Institute, while Bieber went to Columbine HS and competed for Jet Gymnastics. Injured Aggie sophomore Erica Huelsmann and Hornet freshman Nicole Meiller are from neighboring hometowns, as Huelsmann is from Naperville, Ill., while Meiller hails from fellow Chicago western suburb of Aurora, Ill. Sac State sophomore Cayla Boyce is the closest non-Utah native to Logan in action Friday, as she is from Lewisville, Idaho, a mere 160 miles from Logan.
