Utah State Men and Women's Tennis Host Fall Invitational This Weekend

Utah State University’s men and women's tennis teams will host the Utah State Fall Invitational at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club in Logan, Utah, Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 9-11. The men begin play at 10 a.m. Thursday, and the women begin Friday at 9 a.m.

USU will host players from Weber State and Boise State (men) as well as players who are competing in the invitational unattached.

The men begin doubles action at 10 a.m., while singles action starts at 11 a.m. Friday. There are 28 players in the singles bracket and 14 doubles teams.

On Thursday, the women's doubles action begins at 9 a.m. and singles start at noon in two, eight-player flights.

So far this season the men have competed in three invitationals. Doing well for the Aggies is sophomore Jakob Asplund who made it to the semifinals round at the Boise State Invitational. Asplund is seeded No. 2 and has a bye in the round of 32 singles play Friday in the Utah State Fall Invitational.

The women have only competed in one invitational, the Brigham Young Invitational, thus far this fall. Sophomore Hailey Swenson did will for the Aggies, making it to the quarterfinals round of singles consolation.

All the matches will be held at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club and admission is free to the public.
