Utah State Opens 2010 Season Saturday at No. 7 Oklahoma

QUICKLY — Utah State (0-0, 0-0 WAC) kicks off the 2010 season by heading to Norman, Okla., to take on No. 7 Oklahoma (0-0, 0-0 Big 12), Saturday, Sept. 4. Kickoff from OU's Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (82,112) is slated for 5 p.m. (MT). Saturday's battle between the Aggies and Sooners will be televised on Fox Sports Pay Per View.
 
SATURDAY'S STORYLINES — Things to watch for in Saturday's match-up between the Aggies and Sooners:
 
  • USU head coach Gary Andersen starts his second season at the helm of the Aggies.
  • The Aggies have one player from Oklahoma and eight from Texas.
  • Utah State is facing Oklahoma for the second time in the last four years, playing at Norman in 2007, losing, 54-3. USU is 0-4 all-time vs. OU, all at Norman.
  • Saturday marks the second-straight season and third in the last four that the Aggies play a Big 12 team after taking on Texas A&M last season and Oklahoma in 2007.
  • USU is 3-20 in season-openers, opening the season on the road for third-straight season and ninth time in last 11 years.
  • Utah State is facing a ranked opponent in its season-opener for the second year in a row and for the third time in last 12 seasons, playing at #12 Georgia Sept. 4, 1999. Overall, it is the seventh time in USU history to take on a ranked opposition in the season-opener.
  • The Aggies are opening a season against a Big 12 team for the second time in the last 11 seasons, taking on Texas Tech in 2000.
  • Overall, Utah State is 9-41-1 all-time against teams in the current Big 12, having lost the last 10 in a row. USU's last win vs. a Big 12 school was a 28-16 win over Kansas State in 1992.
  • Saturday marks the fourth time in the last five meetings against a Big 12 opponent and sixth in the last eight that the Big 12 team was ranked at the time.
  • USU is 1-3 in games played on Sept. 4, with all four on the road.
  • Utah State is 0-5 in games played on Oklahoma soil, going 0-4 vs. OU and 0-1 against Oklahoma State (1996).
  • The Aggies will be playing a No. 7 ranked team for the fourth time ever, and USU is currently 0-3 against No. 7.
