Utah State Soccer Announces 2012 Spring Schedule

Utah State [University] head soccer coach Heather Cairns announced the 2012 spring schedule on Wednesday [Feb. 22]. USU will play in eight matches this spring, all on the road and will be highlighted with matches against Utah, BYU and Colorado. Six of the eight matches will be played against in-state teams.

The Aggies will open with three matches, all against in-state foes on Feb. 25 at the BYU Indoor Tournament in Provo, Utah. Utah State will open against Westminster at 2 p.m., followed with a match against in-state rival Weber State at 6 p.m. and will conclude the three-game set against Southern Utah at 8 p.m.

USU will not resume play until March 31, when it takes on in-state rival Utah at 1 p.m. The Aggies will take on two more Beehive State teams in Utah Valley University April 6, at 7p.m., and a match at BYU April 14.

The team will then travel to the Colorado Mesa University Tournament to play two matches on April 21, the first against future Western Athletic Conference foe Denver. Kick-off is set for 9:40 a.m. In the final match-up of the spring schedule, Utah State will take on PAC-12 foe Colorado at 1:55 p.m.

USU ended the 2011 season with a 15-5-2 record and captured its third regular-season title as well as taking its first WAC Tournament Title to advance to its first ever NCAA tournament. The Aggies faced Southeastern Conference powerhouse Auburn in the first round of the tournament.
