The Western Athletic Conference announced its spring all-academic teams on Wednesday [June 17] and Utah State [University] had 93 student-athletes recognized as 58 earned all-academic team honors, while 35 more were named to the academic all-freshman/transfer team.
Utah State's 58 academic honorees from its spring sports were by far the most in the league as Fresno State was second with 43, followed by New Mexico State (41), Nevada (37), Hawai'i (31), Louisiana Tech (29), Idaho (26), Boise State (25), and San Jose State (20).
Utah State also had the most individuals honored in both women's outdoor track and field with 24 and men's golf with six, while the men's outdoor track and field team tied with Idaho for top honors in that sport as both school's had 13 student-athletes honored.
To be eligible for the spring academic team, a student-athlete must have completed one academic year, have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
