Utah State University Brigham City Celebrates Over 350 Graduates

Utah State University Brigham City is proud to celebrate its graduating class of 358 students. The class of 2020 consists of individuals earning 90 associate, 185 bachelor’s, 78 master’s degrees and five graduate certificates. While celebrations have been postponed in lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic, USU is celebrating its Wasatch Region graduates virtually and invites all graduates, alumni and supporters to wear blue on April 30 and post selfies in support of the Class of 2020 using hashtag #USUGRAD20.

“Our students have worked hard for this recognition,” said Dan Black, associate vice president of the USU Brigham City Region. “We are very proud of their accomplishments and glad that they’ve earned their degrees during this unique time. We hope it leads to great adventures in their lives.”

Brian Sessions, a student in this year’s graduating class as well as being an officer with the Utah State University Student Association, will be receiving his bachelor’s degree in social work.

“If there’s one thing we know about statewide campuses; it is how adaptable we are to an ever-changing world,” said Sessions. “My time at USU Brigham City has been outstanding. Everyone I interacted with was genuine, guiding me to complete my degree.”

Composed of students from USU Brigham City, Kaysville, and Tremonton, the Brigham City region students were put in a unique position this spring semester as all courses were transitioned to online. USU with 25 years of experience in innovative online education, was able to provide a seamless transition.

Although USU has postponed its commencement celebration, it still intends to celebrate graduates now. Graduates are encouraged to share their stories on Facebook and Instagram using #USUGRAD20 while utilizing GIPHY stickers on Instagram and photo frames on Facebook. A crowdsourced Google Map will be generated using comments as a demonstration of those in solidarity with the class of 2020.

USU Brigham City intends on celebrating its class of 2020 this September with plans of recognizing its graduates, photo opportunities, along with food, refreshments and Aggie Ice Cream.
