Earlier this year, the Utah Department of Transportation showcased the state’s first demonstration of a vertiport — a major milestone in a multiyear research collaboration with Utah State University.
According to the FAA, vertiports are areas for vertical takeoff and landing, or VTOL, operations — which could apply to air taxis or drone deliveries, among other uses.
While those technologies may still be fledgling, in many respects they are fast approaching, and vertiports may be a key part in helping make them a reality for Utahns.
In this video, learn about USU’s research focus in their collaboration with UDOT for vertiports.
