Utah State University Student-Athletes Doing Well in the Classroom

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University student-athletes have achieved an all-time record high cumulative grade point average of 3.033 it was announced by associate athletics director Brian Evans. The average surpassed the previous mark of 3.029 set after the fall of 2003.
"We have been running right around a 3.00 for the past two or three semesters, so it is good to see it continue to inch upward," Evans said.
In all, 17 student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 grade point averages in the fall, and 149 earned between a 3.00 and 3.99. Additionally, 39 made the fall Dean's List.
Utah State has 10 students who are completing their athletic eligibility in 2004-05 and have already graduated. Among those are Michelle Haws from soccer, Clark Bryner and Mark Burton from men's track, Jerome Dennis, Victor Eti, Jared Johnstun and Trent Nate from football, Spencer Nelson and John Neil from basketball and Kristen Guymon from women's track.
This past fall, Utah State had 19 student-athletes selected to the academic all-Big West teams, which ranked second among the league schools. Utah State has led the Big West in number of academic all-conference selections for the year in five of the last six seasons.
