Utah State Women's Soccer Climbs to Seventh in West Region Ranking

After earning its first-ever regional ranking last week, the Utah State [University] women's soccer team continues to climb the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) West Region poll by moving up to seventh this week after entering at ninth last week.

The Aggies continue to make history by starting the season 6-0-0 for the first time ever. Utah State earned a pair of 1-0 wins last week over in-state rival Utah and former Big West foe Cal State Fullerton.

This week, Utah State continues its season-high four-match homestand, taking on Rice Thursday, Sept. 8, at 4 p.m., and border-rival Idaho State Sunday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. Rice is currently eighth in the Central Region rankings. This is the first meeting between the Aggies and the Owls. Before joining Conference USA, Rice was a member of the Western Athletic Conference.

Future Aggie opponent Oklahoma State is first in the Central Region. USU takes on the Cowgirls Sunday, Sept. 18, in Stillwater.

There is one other Utah State opponent that earned a West Region ranking in Western Athletic Conference foe Fresno State. The Bulldogs moved up to the ninth spot this week. The Aggies end the season in Logan Sunday, Oct. 30, against Fresno State.

This week, Pepperdine took the top spot in the West Region ranking, followed by UC Irvine. The Waves are 5-0-1 this season, while the Anteaters are 5-0-0.
