Utah State's Larsen Named To Phil Steele's All-Freshman Team

Utah State offensive center Tyler Larsen was named to the Phil Steele’s College Football All-Freshman list, earning second-team honors, announced Tuesday, Dec. 14, by the national publication.

Larsen, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah (Jordan HS), started all 12 games at center this season for the Aggies as a redshirt-freshman. Making all the blocking calls for the USU offense, Larsen anchored an offensive line that helped the Aggies amass 4,168 yards of total offense (347.3 ypg), including 168.7 ypg rushing and 178.7 ypg passing, for a total of 32 TD’s.

Larsen’s national freshman honor marks the second-straight year for a USU football player, as Kerwynn Williams was a third-team kick returner last year. Overall, it is the seventh honor in the last eight years, joining kick returner Williams (Phil Steele third-team, 2009), punter Peter Caldwell (The Sporting News honorable mention, 2007), linebacker Paul Igboeli (The Sporting News honorable mention, 2006), linebacker Jake Hutton (The Sporting News third-team, 2005), return specialist Kevin Robinson (Football Writers Association of America and Scripps first-team, 2004), safety Terrance Washington (College Football News second-team, 2003).

Utah State concluded the 2010 season with a 4-8 overall record and 2-6 WAC mark.
