Vance Twitchell Earns All-Region Cross Country Honors

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State's Vance Twitchell was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association all-Mountain Region team it was announced on Tuesday [Nov. 14].

Twitchell, a senior from Helena, Mont., was one of 25 runners named to the team after he placed 24th at the regional meet last weekend [Nov. 11-12].

"Vance had a great year," said Aggie head coach Gregg Gensel. "For him to receive this honor, it shows the dedication he has to his sport."

Twitchell also was the Western Athletic Conference runner-up in leading the Aggies to their second straight league championship. He was USU's top finisher in all six races of the season.

He started his year placing second at the USU-Weber State Duel before winning the Montana State Invitational and earning WAC Athlete of the Week. He placed 23rd at the highly competitive Oregon State Invitational in late September and was 40th at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in mid-October.
 
Twitchell was a two-time all-conference cross country selection for the Aggies. As a junior, he placed third individually at the WAC meet.
