Volleyball Hosts Nevada Thursday Night in Final Home Match of the Season

Nov. 7 — Utah State University’s women's volleyball team will host Nevada in its final home match of the season Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Prior to the match USU will honor its two seniors, Monarisa Ale (Kahuku, Hawai'i) and Amanda Nielson (West Valley City, Utah).

Utah State is 15-12 on the season and in fourth-place in the Western Athletic Conference with a 9-5 league record. USU is led by senior opposite side hitter Amanda Nielson who is averaging 6.02 points, 5.11 kills, 2.45 digs, 0.99 blocks and 0.40 service aces per game, while junior outside hitter Melissa Osterloh is averaging 3.77 points, 3.15 kills, 2.98 digs and 0.66 blocks per game. As a team, Utah State is hitting .174 on the season as compared to a .187 hitting percentage for its opponents. Since starting the season with a 2-6 record, USU has won 13 of its last 19 matches.
 
Nevada is 14-9 on the season and in third-place in the WAC with a 10-5 league record following a five-game win against San Jose State in its last match. The Wolf Pack, 6-3 on the road this year, is led by senior outside hitter Teal Ericson who is hitting .226 and averaging 4.70 kills and 1.11 digs per game. As a team, Nevada is hitting .186 on the season as compared to a .177 hitting percentage for its opponents.
 
Utah State is 8-17 all-time against Nevada, which includes a 6-5 record at home. The Wolf Pack defeated the Aggies earlier this year in Reno in three games. Last year the two teams split the season series with UN winning in Reno in three games and USU winning in Logan in five games.
 
Following its contest against Nevada, Utah State will conclude the regular season with a match at 10th-ranked Hawai'i (20-4, 14-0) on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 10 p.m. (MT).
