Volleyball Player Erin Graybill Named USU Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah — Aggie volleyball player Erin Graybill was named Utah State Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 6, it was announced on Monday [Nov. 7]. Graybill earned the honor in a split vote with USU football player John Chick. The weekly honor is selected by a local media panel.

 

The senior, middle blocker from Sandy, Utah, led Utah State's women's volleyball team to a 2-0 record last week with wins against Idaho and Boise State. She recorded a match-high 15 kills to lead the team to a four-game win against Boise State Saturday night.

 

Graybill recorded a career-high on Wednesday against the Idaho as she recorded 20 kills and notched seven blocks on the night. For the week, Graybill hit .366 and averaged 3.89 kills, 1.11 blocks and 0.56 digs per game.

 

With her 10 blocks last week she now has 136 total blocks this year, which ranks fourth on USU's single-season list and is just 15 blocks sky of setting a new single-season school record in that category. Currently she is averaging 1.31 blocks per game, which ranks second in the WAC.

 

Utah State will conclude its three-match homestand against ninth-ranked Hawai'i on Wed., Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

Football — John Chick... Senior defensive end recorded seven tackles with four for loss, including two sacks, while also forcing a fumble in USU's 27-17 loss to Louisiana Tech. The seven stops were a season high. He now has 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks on the season. His 1.06 sacks per game rank sixth in the NCAA.

 

Soccer — Dana Peart... Sophomore forward scored Utah State's only goal in its 2-1 loss to Fresno State in the opening round of the WAC Tournament last Thursday. Peart finished the season second on the team in scoring with five goals and one assist. With seven career goals she is now tied with Heather Arnell for 10th on USU¹s career goals list.
