Volleyball Rallies For Five-Game Win Against Brigham Young

Ingrid Roth tied her season-high with 14 kills and hit a blistering .429 to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a dramatic come-from-behind five-game win against in-state rival Brigham Young Tuesday night (Sept. 28) in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum by final scores of 30-32, 26-30, 30-27, 30-25, and 17-15. With the win, Utah State improves to 3-7 on the year while BYU falls to 5-6 overall with the loss.
 
"This is a great victory for our team and I am so proud of our kids," said Utah State head coach Burt Fuller. "We needed this victory really bad and hopefully we can build a little momentum from it."

Utah State has now won seven straight matches at home against in-state opponents and has won five of the last seven matches played against Brigham Young.
 
Erin Graybill, a transfer from BYU, recorded a career-high 14 kills to go along with five blocks for Utah State, while Zuzana Cernianska added 15 kills and 17 digs. Carolyn Forbush posted 11 kills and nine digs, while Amanda Orgill had 10 kills.
 
Kim Wilson led Brigham Young with a match-high 20 kills and 20 digs, while teammate Erica Lott had 18 kills.
 
As a team, Utah State hit .170 overall as compared to a .178 hitting percentage for Brigham Young. Both teams had 72 kills and 36 hitting errors in the match, while BYU had two more service aces (8-6), four more digs (76-72), and 11 more team blocks (21-10).
 
Utah State returns to Big West action this weekend with a pair of road matches at 23rd-ranked Long Beach State and UC Irvine.
