2024 GEAR UP Welcome Back
GEAR UP graduates from Granite School District met with their new coordinators for their first year of college. Our GEAR UP team and site coordinators hosted "Welcome Back" events at the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College, where they familiarized students with the resources available.

Students are ready for a new school year!
On August 27th and September 4th, our GEAR UP team hosted "Welcome Back" events at the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College. The purpose of these events was to have an opportunity for our Granite GEAR UP Alumni to meet and touch base with our GEAR UP site coordinators. These excellent coordinators worked with our alumni previously, and are continuing their support through their first year of college.
Students received free food, an electronic notebook, additional school supplies, and a calendar of September events at their respective campus. To help them as they start this new chapter of college life, students also received information about Tutor.com and Grammerly, as they have been provided access to both.
Both events were very successful, and we plan to do more monthly events for our college students. We also plan to host monthly events for our Granite GEAR UP Alumni who have chosen alternative post-secondary paths, such as apprenticeships, internships, or trade schools.
