GEAR UP January Scholarship Events
As GEAR UP graduate college students move through their first year, knowing what resources and financial support options are available is a definite boon. In January, our GEAR UP college advisors met with students to show them scholarship options, and how to apply for them.

At the start of the new college semester, GEAR UP hosted events at the University of Utah on January 23rd, and Salt Lake Community College on January 28th. These events provided students with the opportunity to connect with their college advisors and receive valuable information on scholarships. Advisors shared general tips and tricks for scholarship applications, along with details on specific scholarships available at each school.
Approximately 54 students attended, enjoying food from an appetizer bar while engaging in conversations with advisors. Many students were able to complete scholarship applications on-site, making the event both informative and practical.
Beyond scholarships, the events served as an important touchpoint for students to receive guidance, encouragement, and support as they begin a new semester. Students also received planners, college survival kits, and GEAR UP t-shirts.
