Biography

Dr. Gregory Callan primarily studies skills that help people to "learn how to learn", and how people can motivate themselves. Some of the key skills that Dr. Callan researchers to support learning and motivation include: goal setting, planning, using strategies to overcome challenges, monitoring how well one is doing, and using reflection to adapt. Much of Dr. Callan's research has developed assessment tools to measure these skills, but Dr. Callan has also developed an online professional development program for teachers, an intervention program for college students, and an intervention focused on using these skills within mathematics. Dr. Callan completed their PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In addition, they completed their doctoral internship and post-doctoral training with Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
