Specimen Fixed tissue
Special Instructions Shipping formalin-fixed samples during subzero temperatures causes samples to freeze and typically renders the sample nondiagnostic. Addition of 1 part alcohol (ethanol, methanol, or isopropanol) to 9 parts formalin can help reduce freeze-thaw artifact if shipping samples during cold temperatures.
Price $70.00/ea. for first tissue/site. $30.00/ea. for additional sites.

Description Price is per animal, AND per tissue. For example, a skin mass from the head, with an additional skin mass from the leg and a subcutaneous mass from the abdomen from the same animal would be counted as three masses. Multiple punch biopsies from the same animal and submitted in the same jar will be counted as a single biopsy. Multiple endoscopic GI biopsies from the same animal and submitted in separate cassettes with sponges and labeled by segment will be counted as a single biopsy. In addition, biopsy samples which require increased amounts of technician/pathologist attention and/or specialized reagents will be assessed a sample processing fee. Examples of biopsy samples which will receive this fee include large biopsy samples (>15 cm in diameter), samples submitted fresh, whole spleens, whole mammary chains, samples that require decalcification (amputated digits, jaw/mandibles, as well as certain mammary/oral masses) or any non-standard biopsy sample.
