Specimen 3 ml serum
Sampling Requirements Collect serum from clotted blood in a non-additive tube (e.g., plain red top or serum separator). When possible, transfer clear serum off the clot into a new tube. 
Collection Container Anticoagulant-free glass or plastic tubes
Packing Instructions Label all tubes with unique identifiers.  If shipping multiple tubes, place tubes in numerical order in boxes designed to hold tubes.  Use cold packs during hot weather, especially if shipping serum samples on the clot.  Overnight shipping recommended.
Special Instructions Excessively hemolyzed samples are unacceptable.
