Single Mothers Subspoke
The Single Mothers Subspoke is part of the Home and Family Spoke in A Bolder Way Forward. Single parents and mothers face unique challenges in their familial situations. Death and divorce are some of the reasons women are left to raise children in non-traditional family circumstances. Often assuming most, if not all, of the roles of parenthood is overwhelming and daunting at best. This subspoke is focused on improving access, affordability, resources and support for single mothers navigating this potentially lonely and difficult terrain. Without some assistance, single mothers are often thrown into circumstances that can accelerate both negative and transgenerational issues. By eliminating barriers for these women and children, we can also increase economic opportunity, intellectual growth, personal development, health and well-being, as well as life-long societal contributions for women and girls in Utah.
