Heather Wolsey is currently the Sales Manager and Marketing Director at the Daily Herald in Provo, Utah. She feels very blessed to have a job that she loves. She started working at the Daily Herald in December 2012. This was the first job that she had in the workforce; before that she was a stay at home mother for 20+ years. Heather initially started as a sales rep and successfully worked her way into her current position. Heather firmly believes that attitude is everything and that hard work always pays off.
Briefly tell us about your life outside of School/Work:
Outside of work I am a proud mother of six beautiful children. They are my pride and joy. I am also a survivor of domestic violence. I am committed to educating my community as to the very real dangers that we are facing. I have spent countless hours on Capitol Hill advocating for change and pressing for new legislation that will truly protect and empower victims of domestic violence. The world that I pass on to my children will be a better, more loving world. Victims of abuse will have a clear path laid out for them to get out of abusive relationships. I never want anyone to experience the hardships that I had to endure.
How did you know your path or decide your current path?
My path is two-fold. First, I want to make sure that my children grow up to be happy and healthy. Their education and ability to contribute to society are of utmost importance to me. Second, I want to change the way that domestic violence is handled on a national level. The state of Utah is moving in the right direction and we will lead the nation in domestic violence reform.
Every morning when I get up I ask myself if I can see God in my actions. If I can, I know that I am on the right path, He is my North Star.
How do you handle conflict resolution?
I believe that honest communication combined with an willingness to see differences from both sides will solve almost all conflict.
What does goal setting looks like for you?
I have come to embrace goal setting. I usually look at the big picture first. For example, where do I want to be in 20 years? From there I set smaller attainable goals that steer me towards the place I ultimately want to be.I recognize that small and consistent actions make all the difference and lead to success.
