Mica McGriggs
A PhD Candidate Counseling Psychology at BYU, her academic research is primarily in the area of multicultural competence in Psychotherapy. Her social justice interests are broadly defined, but can expressed through the term intersectional feminism. Mica enjoys community activism and is involved with several non-profits. She contributes to several blogs including The Huffington Post. She is currently working on a podcast project called The Color of Heaven which explores the history of race in Mormonism.
Outside of community activism, which is her most beloved hobby, Mica enjoys traveling. She lived in London during college and cultivated a love of new places and cultures; she has visited about 15 countries and over half the states in the U.S. When she is home you’ll likely find her a brunch with friends.
How do you de-stress?
Self-care is best care and as a therapist I’m an advocate for making time for anything that breathes life into you. For me that’s usually a trip to the spa and dinner at one favorite restaurants with a group of friends; where we can laugh and just be.
Are there any books or other resources that have particularly helped you reach this level of awesomeness?
