On January 22nd, 2021, the Utah Women & Leadership Project hosted Sheri Dew, internationally recognized author, speaker, and leader. Sheri Dew discussed her own leadership journey with Dr. Susan Madsen, as well as her views on why, where, and how women today are needed to influence, impact, and lead in all settings.

Sheri Dew is a native of Ulysses, Kansas, and a graduate of Brigham Young University. She is a 30-year veteran of the publishing industry and has authored a number of best-selling books, including the biographies of two presidents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—President Gordon B. Hinckley and President Ezra Taft Benson. Her most recent book is entitled Insights from a Prophet’s Life: Russell M. Nelson.
Sheri served as second counselor in the general presidency of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and since March 2002, she has served as the CEO of Deseret Book Company, a publishing company and retail bookstore chain owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is serving concurrently as the executive vice president and chief content officer of Deseret Management Corporation as well as the president of the Chapters of Hope Foundation.
Sheri is a member of BYU-Hawaii’s Genuine Gold Society, is a member of the Marriott School National Advisory Board, is a recipient of a medal of honor from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, and has spoken at international conclaves such as the World Congress of Families. In March 2003 the White House appointed her as a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.
