Colleagues,
My calendar says it is spring, but I’m wondering what has happened! I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for April:
First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new research snapshot titled “Utah Women and Fertility: Trends and Changes from 1970–2021” (with Kaitlyn Pieper, Melinda Nagai Seager, and Dr. Robyn Blackburn). Additionally, we released a research and policy brief a few weeks ago titled “Safety First: The Health Implications of Social Belonging Among Utah Women” (with Dr. Lisa Diamond). Both are powerful reports. In addition, here are two new “What Can I Do?” idea sheets for Sevier County and Box Elder County (based on community gatherings). Thanks to everyone involved in these publications.
Second, we have two free UWLP events coming up, including one TODAY (RSVP online):
- Advancing Women Through “Developmental Relationships”: A Dialogue with Global Experts (Apr. 4, Noon-1:15pm, Virtual; this will be helpful to understand mentoring, sponsorship, and other types of relationships important for professional/personal development)
- Teen Girls Experiencing Increased Sadness and Violence: A Discussion with Utah Experts (Apr. 25, Noon-1:15pm, Virtual; this is a forum with experts to discuss a report about teen girls experiencing sadness and violence and what influencers can do to help)
Third, we have a few new UWLP resources to highlight this month:
- New Podcast Episodes (with Utah Public Radio): 100 Companies Championing Women: Park City Lodging, 100 Companies Championing Women: Dominion Energy, Safety First: The Health Implications of Social Belonging Among Utah Women, and Impact of Gap Time for Missionary Service on Utah Women’s College Outcomes
- Videos: Ditch Your Debt and Transform Your Net Worth and Teaching Your Child Consent
- List: Programs Specifically For Girls/Young Women (K-12) (this includes camps for girls during the summer)
