November 2024 Newsletter

Colleagues,

Good morning! I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for November:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new research snapshot titled “Women and Aging: What Utahns Need to Know” (Authors: Amanda Lambert & Kolene Anderson). Additionally, we have released two new “What Can I Do?” idea sheets for Rich County and Daggett County (based on community gatherings). Thanks to everyone involved in these publications.

Second, the UWLP is conducting a statewide study to explore more deeply Utahns’ understanding, awareness, attitudes, concerns, and perceptions around challenges that women and girls face (second year in a row). We welcome all individuals living in the state age 18 or older to participate. The survey will take 10-20 minutes to complete. I am the primary researcher for this study. If you have questions or concerns, you can contact me at uwlp@usu.edu (USU IRB 14623). You can participate by clicking here(it closes Nov. 19).

Third, we have an online event coming up on December 3 titled “Promoting Civility and Dignity in Utah.” Tami Pyfer will discuss the Dignity Index, which serves as a powerful tool for measuring and promoting dignity in our interactions. This framework helps individuals and organizations assess their impact on others and encourages practices that uphold the inherent worth of every person. Becky Edwards will talk about her passion around electing responsive, thoughtful Utahns who will focus on civility and have complex policy conversations that focus on true governing.

Fourth, we have a few resources to highlight this month:

Fifth, here are some of our partners’ upcoming events (check out our community calendar for all events in Utah for girls and women):
