The Unspoken Truths for Women's Career Success
Panel Discussion/Presentation
For our second webinar in this series, Dr. Susan R. Madsen will interview Tessa White, a highly acclaimed expert on building career strategies and re-engaging people in the workplace today. She recently published a book titled “The Unspoken Truths for Career Success: Navigating Pay, Promotions, and Power at Work,” with Stephen M. R. Covey stating it was a “terrific read for the new generations rising in the workforce—and for their leaders.” Dr. Madsen will ask Tessa questions about a variety of topics in her book and how her advice might be crafted specifically for women. This engaging discussion will focus on a variety of topics, including the truths about pay, promotions, loyalty, burnout, and office politics and power. Tessa believes that mastering these unspoken truths can help women receive greater recognition, increase opportunities for pay and promotions, and provide a path to greater influence and power.
The Impact of Sexism on Women’s Careers
Panel Discussion/Presentation
The Utah Women & Leadership Project invites you to join us for our third webinar in the 2025 Women in Leadership Executive Speaker Series with this one focused on the impact of sexism on women’s careers. Sexism is defined as referring to the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) towards others or oneself based on gender. Sexism can take many forms, some overt and some more subtle. Speaking up against sexism can be a powerful force for reducing gender inequity and arming women and girls (and male allies) to identify and address sexism in their workplaces is important. Being prepared about how to respond to everyday sexism can help women feel more confident in their interactions with others. By raising awareness of the widespread occurrence and damaging effects of sexist language, comments, beliefs, and behaviors, we hope to reduce the frequency of sexism in our homes, neighborhoods, communities, and the state.
