Biography

Adam Bowen has distinguished himself as a versatile musician with a heart for the transformative power of music. Adam’s mission is to share the transformative power of music with his community and audience through performance, teaching, and conducting.

As a pianist, Adam has experience ranging from solo performance, chamber music, collaborative piano, and ensemble playing. Adam’s piano performances have been characterized as emotional, sensitive, and particular. In addition to his solo programs, Adam has received superior ratings in NFMC evaluations for seven years and won a merit-based performance scholarship to Utah State University. He has served as a full-time pianist for Cache Valley Children’s Choir, One Voice Children’s Choir, multiple high school musicals, and more. He has also performed in educational outreach concerts through the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation for a grant-based program called “Music in Our Schools” for over 1,000 elementary school students in Utah.

As a violinist, Adam has performed in Abravanel hall in orchestral competitions, competed in state and regional competitions, and has participated in honors orchestras for several years. Adam has been employed as a chamber musician performing at concerts, private parties, and weddings for several years. He served as the second violin section leader of his high school orchestra for 2 years.

As a composer beginning at age 15, he has written pieces for winds, voice, strings, and piano and has several finished works, including 2 Sonatinas for the Piano and 3 Romances written for Violin and Piano. His works have been performed and recorded in several venues.

As a 17-year-old, he served as the lead choir director for his local Christian congregation, performing often in Sunday worship services and holding weekly rehearsals. He also has maintained a private piano studio for 2 years in high school, teaching twelve students between the ages of 5 and 21. He also participates in the Youth Conservatory of Utah State University which teaches over 100 students piano in the community.

Equally comfortable in classical repertoire and popular styles and venues, his collaborative work spans from string quartets to piano trios and from rock bands to voice duets. He has accompanied a wide range of solo instrumentalists such as Violin, Cello, Viola, Oboe, Clarinet, French Horn, Flute, Trombone, and Voice in competitions, auditions, and performances.

Adam is currently studying at Utah State University with a degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy under Dr. Cahill Smith.
