I have loved music all my life, but I started playing piano when I was 7. Since then my love for music has grown along with my love of teaching. I have three younger sisters who all play, so growing up I always had an opportunity to teach. As my skills grew with me I had the opportunity to play for various choirs, bands, and soloists. I am now pursuing my dreams as I study Child Development and Piano Pedagogy at Utah State University. Even though this will be my first year teaching under Utah States Youth Conservatory, I have had the privilege to teach in different professional circumstances the past few years. By the age of sixteen I started filling in for my personal piano teacher while she was on vacation. From there I started teaching a beginner as my own personal student. These special opportunities have opened my eyes to the endless benefits music, and specifically piano, can have for children. Motor skills, theory knowledge, and a longer attention span are some of the benefits of learning how to play the piano. Many students continue to even find a new way to express themselves and find confidence as they achieve great things. I hope to continue sharing my love for the piano with students for as long as my fingers will allow.
