Biography

Shannon Hirschi is a versatile musician with many years of experience performing and collaborating in a variety of musical genres. Over the last few years, she has placed in both the BYU Piano Competition as well as the Arizona International Music Competition. Her collaborative experience began at age ten, playing for local choirs, and spurred a love for ensemble playing. Shannon has worked as a collaborative pianist at Utah Valley University, the University of Utah, and now Utah State University, working in the Vocal Performance, Musical Theater, and Opera departments. As a teacher, she ventures to establish strong foundational skills that will enable healthy and emotive playing. Shannon believes that music lessons should be a safe place for students to make mistakes and explore as they develop their own musical voice. She hopes to help students discover their strengths as musicians while learning a wide variety of music. Shannon completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of Utah with Koji Attwood, and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy with Cahill Smith.
