Having started her piano studies she was 6 years old, Kate Roberts began to grow in her passion both in playing and of bringing others joy through music in her early teens. As this passion grew, she also took on the organ and singing and sometimes dappled on the violin as well. Renowned for winning a number of composition competitions as well as ranking 3rd in her age group for the International Kings Peak Music Competition for solo piano performance, she is excited to keep expanding her abilities as an undergraduate in USU's piano performance and pedagogy program under Dr. Mayumi Matzen. Teaching at the YC Conservatory fulfills her goal of more greatly impacting others' lives through music and her hope is that her students will also be able to serve others and bring greater good to themselves and to the world through their playing as well. As the popular saying goes, music heals the soul. Music can be a sanctuary, a safe place for both the performer and the listener to feel united with others and experience peace and comfort. It also boosts the player's self-confidence and their ability to keep going when challenges and trials come. When she's not practicing or teaching, Kate loves hanging out with family or friends, going on outdoor adventures, as well as exploring Hobby Lobby's embroidery floss section for more thread for her friendship bracelets.
