She is currently earning a degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at USU, studying under Dr. Mayumi Matzen. Johanna's focus is solo performance, where she strives to use music for the dual purposes of creating beauty and communicating ideas with her audience. She has been recognized with highest possible ratings at the HMTA piano festival for 5 years and honored as a finalist in the Waynesboro Symphony Young Artists Concerto Competition.

Johanna possesses a wide variety of collaborative piano experience. She has accompanied vocalists, instrumentalists, chamber groups, and choirs; she has also played in ensembles including orchestra, symphonic band, marching band, and jazz band. From 2020-2024, she placed as one of the top two pianists statewide in auditions for the All-Virginia Band/Orchestra. Additionally, Johanna has played bassoon for 6 years, and has experience on the oboe, organ, and saxophone.

Johanna has taught in the Youth Conservatory since September 2024. As a teacher, Johanna strives to equip her students with the skills needed to enjoy, perform, and understand music at a high level. She encourages her students to develop their own musical voice and critical listening skills so they are prepared to be independent musicians. Johanna believes that every child can learn to play the piano. She is committed to helping every student reach their full potential and develop a lifelong love of music.

Outside of music, Johanna is also currently earning a degree in electrical engineering. She serves as the electrical team lead for Aggie Solar Racing and is involved with research at the ASPIRE Engineering Research Center.
