Teacher-student relationships are highly important to me, and I strive to maintain an honest, respectful, and motivating culture in my teaching studio. I believe strongly that students learn best in a nurturing environment, that they can thoroughly feel when the good of the students is at the forefront of the teacher's mind. In this way, learning piano can become far more than a skill and also be a holistic and enriching experience. I believe in a strong work ethic, that everyone learns best by a combination of theory and experience. I hold the expectation that students practice on their own and intentionally, for their own benefit. It is only through repeated and conscientious effort that we can change and adapt our abilities, and I firmly believe that steady and daily practicing, with an attitude of openness and responsibility, will result in continuous progress. An open-mindset is important; it is okay to make mistakes and get messy! Making mistakes is part of learning, and as long as these errors are corrected intentionally, it will result in greater learning and knowledge. Not only is practicing important, but the theory is as well! I believe that a strong foundation in music theory will enhance and inspire students to perform better, practice more effectively, and develop artistically. I believe in the power music has to inspire and uplift! Students are not only developing a skill but they are developing themselves. Playing the piano is beautiful and can express what words cannot. I believe that as students practice with determination, play with expression, compose with creativity, and collaborate with fellow musicians, they will develop not only artistically but intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. I am honored as a teacher to interact and learn from all students, I respect their time, interests, and goals, and am committed to helping become the best version of themselves they can be!
