Biography

I have been playing piano since I was 5 years old. I started teaching piano at age 12, and have studied with several teachers: Suzanne Poole, Mel Shore, Steve Lindeman, and Scott Holden. With each teacher, I was able to have different opportunities to perform and learn about different aspects of piano performance. I have played in jazz bands, jazz combos, full orchestras, and accompanied both choirs and soloists. I love sightreading, learning pieces by ear, and working with other musicians. Outside of piano, I play both flute and bassoon, love soccer, and learn languages for fun!

A little more about my teaching style: My biggest goal for students is to help them play well, and to enjoy the process of learning/practicing. The most important thing for me is to help students love music and play what they love! I incorporate a lot of different styles and ideas into my teaching and am always looking for new opportunities to learn new things as a musician. Music is hard work, but the joy it can bring is well worth the time and effort.
