Leo Sanjinez is currently a Senior at Utah State University pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Guitar Performance, and a Minor in Piano Pedagogy. Being actively involved in the jazz department at his university, he currently plays with the USU Jazz Orchestra, jazz combos and guitar ensembles. He performs in multiple pit orchestras, including musicals such as Between the Lines and The Toxic Avenger through his university. He currently studies under Corey Christiansen, who is the head of the guitar department at USU. During his studies at USU, he will have completed multiple classes that will excel his ability to be an effective educator. These include Guitar Pedagogy 1 & 2, Piano Pedagogy 1 & 2, and Music Theory Pedagogy. Leo has represented his high school as the instrumental music sterling scholar. He has also received a superior rating at the UHSAA state music competition for Classical Guitar. As well as being proficient in both jazz and classical, Leo also loves playing rock and metal, as those genres are engraved in his roots as a musician. As part of his studies for his minor, he will teach at the USU Piano youth conservatory, and has taken many courses on piano such as piano literature and keyboard harmony. These opportunities has grown Leo into the musician and educator that his is today.
