Biography

William Monroe Tegtmeier began studying piano at the age of seven, and ever since then music has played an enormous part in his life. Beginning in middle school William also began playing the saxophone and has played in the Bingham High School marching band, jazz band and wind symphony. In addition to the piano and saxophone, William also began playing the organ during high school and has served as a ward organist for his church on many occasions. In 2021 he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Louisiana, Texas and Brazil where he learned to speak Portuguese and was able to meet many people of many different cultures. In the course of his piano studies William has received many Superior ratings in both solo and concerto divisions in NFMC. He was selected as Bingham High School's Music Sterling Scholar and additionally performed the Warsaw Concerto and the first movement of Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto at Bingham High's Concerto Night in successive years. While at USU he received an Honorable Mention in the USU Concerto Competition for the first movement of the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1, which he learned within his first semester at USU. He has performed in many concerts while at USU including a masterclass with Jeremy Denk. William loves learning new repertoire and especially loves the music of Rachmaninoff and Medtner. He hopes to one day be able to share and compose music that stirs the soul. When William isn't inside practicing the piano he enjoys devouring books, playing games, and doing math. William is currently studying for a degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at USU under Dr. Sasha Kasman Laude.
