Space Soil Physics
Gas Diffusion Experiment
The Optimization of Root Zone Substrates (ORZS) experiment is designed to measure oxygen diffusion through partially saturated porous media in the microgravity environment of the International Space Station.
The ORZS experiment was launched to the ISS in 2007 and the experiment to measure water retention and oxygen diffusion were carried out in microgravity.
Parabolic Flight Experiments
Soil physics experiments were conducted on NASA's parabolic flight aircraft to determine if micrograity alters characteristics such as water retention, hydraulic conductivity and imbibition.[Paper]
