USU Choirs Perform Annual "Autumn Voices" Concert

Utah State University choirs are presenting their annual fall concert “Autumn Voices” for all to enjoy on Thursday, October 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Caine Performance Hall on the USU campus.

“Celebrate the fall season with beautiful choral in an exquisite venue,” said Cory Evans, director of the choral program and professor in the Caine College of the Arts (CCA). “The USU Choirs bring in the fall season with a performance of new and classic choral favorites.”

“The women of the combined choirs will perform the regional premiere of Michael Engelhardt’s O Antiqui Sancti, which features Hildegard von Bingen’s medieval chant coupled with driving modern percussion elements, creating a stunning pairing of musical elements from nearly 1000 years apart,” Evans said. “The Chorale will perform Rachmaninoff’s beloved Bogoroditse Devo from ‘Vespers’ and Gloria from Robert Ray’s rockin’ ‘Gospel Mass.’”

Evans said the Chamber Singers are premiering music from their upcoming album “Amazing Grace,” including the music of Phillip Stopford, Paul Mealor, Crawford Gates, M. Roger Holland and a musical tribute to the autumn season.
