Utah State Women's Basketball Announces Remaining 2016-17 Schedule

Utah State [University] women’s basketball has announced the non-conference portion of its schedule for the 2016-17 season.

The preseason lineup features 11 games, seven of which will be played at home in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The preseason is highlighted by in-state matchups against Westminster, Southern Utah, Utah and BYU. The schedule also features the first meeting in a home-and-home series against Arizona. The Mountain West portion of the schedule was announced in June. The full schedule is available online at utahstateaggies.com.

Utah State will open the 2016-17 campaign in exhibition action against Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday, Nov. 6. Official competition begins the following week, when the Aggies host Westminster Friday, Nov. 11. The homestand continues Monday, Nov. 14, when Montana State will travel to Logan. USU will then host UC Irvine Thursday, Nov. 17, and Southern Utah Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The Aggies will take their first roadtrip to play in the Lady Griz Classic, hosted by Montana. USU will play Incarnate Word Friday, Nov. 25, and the host Grizzlies Sunday, Nov. 27. This will mark the second-straight season the Aggies will play in the Montana tournament.

Utah State will open the month of December hosting Idaho State Thursday, Dec. 3. The team then travels to Salt Lake City to play at Utah Saturday, Dec. 3. The final home game of the non-conference season will bring BYU to Logan Saturday, Dec. 17, while the preseason will conclude at Arizona Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Mountain West competition will begin at Boise State Thursday, Dec. 29, and continue through the season finale against UNLV Tuesday, Feb. 28. League play will determine the seeding for the 2017 Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship, held March 6-8 and 10 at the Thomas and Mack Center on the campus of UNLV.

Utah State will return nine players from the 2015-16 roster, a team that finished the year with a 14-17 overall record, going 8-10 in Mountain West action. The Aggies will also welcome six new players to the squad, replacing six others lost to graduation or transfer.
