Annual ETE Conferences Set to Inspire Faculty, Innovate Teaching

Empowering Teaching Excellence sessions are an annual event at USU hosted by Academic and Instructional Services.

Utah State University faculty can tap into the latest teaching innovations, energize their classrooms, and get inspired at two annual Empowering Teaching Excellence (ETE) Conferences. Hosted by USU’s Academic and Instructional Services (AIS), the Aug. 15 ETE Foundations of USU Teaching prepares new USU faculty for the classroom, and the Aug. 17 Faculty Conference helps existing faculty to innovate their instruction.

“These conferences are incredible ways to kick-off the new school year and really help innovate a faculty members’ teaching skills,” said Robert Wagner, executive vice provost and dean of AIS. “And I’m excited about the insights our keynote speaker will share.”

This year’s keynote speaker, Abby D. Benninghoff, won the 2016 USU Graduate Mentor of the Year award and is an associate professor at USU in the Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences. She brings experience from the University of Tennessee, the University of Texas and Oregon State University. Her address, “Amplify your teaching impact: capitalizing on 1-on-1instruction,” will commence the Faculty conference.

Following the keynote, faculty-led breakout sessions and panels provide an opportunity for attendees to interact, share and explore other topics related to teaching.

The Foundation conference will be held at the Distance Education building and the Faculty conference in the Taggart Student Center, both on USU’s Logan campus. Registration can be completed online.
