Instructions for Sierra Data Cards

  • You want a Sierra Wireless AirCard 313U
  • You need to order a microSIM from AT&T. Not the nano size
  • Next, you need to configure the device with a static IP. Here is how to do that:
    • Plug the device into a laptop. Somehow the settings I needed to change were greyed out on my desktop and I couldn't do anything. I plugged it into my Mac laptop and it worked fine.
    • When you plug it in, the laptop will think it is a CD with an executable on it. select to run the .exe file or otherwise install the software. This software is what you need to make changes to the device.
    • Once the software is installed and it shows you have a connection to the device, follow the these instructions.
      • Except that you need to make the APN and its user name and password in accordance with what you find on this page
    • After you've done that, you need to do the following:
      • Log into your account at "www.accessmylan.com" (seth.lyman@usu.edu, B1) and click on Users > click on user you want > Static Addressing. You will then see the private static IP address from there.
    • there you go.
