Shingo Center Pit Crew Challenge: Kickoff Briefing (event 1 of 2)

Student Activities

The Shingo Student Center kicks off the Pit Crew Challenge, sponsored by Discount Tire. Crews of four from any major will race to build a LEGO car as fast as a NASCAR pit crew changes tires. At the briefing you'll hear how Discount Tire uses a pit crew challenge to build a culture of operational excellence, learn the six ways crews find speed, take home a LEGO practice kit, and run your first timed round. Attendance earns points toward the championship. The winning crew earns an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas on October 19-20th to train with Discount Tire's NASCAR pit crew. Food will be served. The main event is on Sept 23rd, but come to this event for points towards winning and to learn how pit crews go fast! Register to attend.

Shingo Center Pit Crew Challenge: Competition Night

Student Activities

Teams get thirty minutes to design their method, then four timed rounds, each with a five-minute setup and a documented improvement cycle in between. The fastest hands don't guarantee a win — most points go to how well a crew plans, experiments, and explains what it learned. The winning crew earns an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas to train with Discount Tire's NASCAR pit crew. Spectators are welcome. Register to attend.
